Lapis lazuli is an intensely blue stone made of a deep blue lazurite, cloudy white calcite, sparkly pyrite and other minerals.
Since the earliest of times, lapis lazuli has been associated with strength and courage, royalty and wisdom, intellect and truth. From antiquity, lapis lazuli has been worn in the belief that it will ward off evil. This pretty indigo and gold gemstone is known for cleansing the throat and third eye chakras and can be used to ward off psychic attacks. As a stone geared towards wisdom and communication, Lapis Lazuli can also help connect you to clarity, integrity, and intuition.
Mala beads are embedded in both Buddhism and Hinduism and have been used to focus the mind during meditation and to help when counting mantras.
Traditionally Mala contains 108 beads, the centre marker is known as the guru stone, it symbolises gratitude and reminds us of our connection with the divine. Malas are used for keeping count while reciting, chanting or mentally repeating a mantra or the name or names of a deity. This sadhana (practice) is known in Sanskrit as japa.
